My Lock Back Knives Collection.

My Lock Back Knives Collection.

Locking knives, such as the lock back knife have locking mechanism such as a catch that must be released in a distinct action before the knife can be folded. This lock improves safety by preventing accidental blade closure while cutting. In contrast, slip joint knives rely only on a small sliding spring to keep the blade open, and if enough force is applied to the back of the knife, the blade will close.

This Blog entry features pictures of my lock back knives, In the pics are a few Andujar knives, a Scrimshaw lock back, a Camp U.S.A Branded knife, a Boker Magnum brand knife and a CRKT Cascade knife, and a few other classic style lock knives, all knives (as the title suggests) are Lock Backs, which refers to the locking mechanism, some also features Thumbs studs for easy/fast opening. All are medium size knives that are approx 12cm closed and 21cm open, a few have real animal horn handles and some are hard woods.

Bead blast blade, Combined Razor-Sharp & Triple-Point Serrated Cutting Edge

FROM CRKT WEBSITE :

Jim Hammond's Cruiser series of customs seemed like an ideal starting point in a development of a high quality affordable lock back work folder. As the first custom knife maker and Knife makers' Guild member to work with Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT), he understood the translation necessary to arrive at their successful production Cascade Lock back.

The blade is a Hammond modified clip point shape, hollow ground from 420J2 stainless steel with a bead blast finish, and available with a Combination Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edge.

For maximum comfort, it incorporates Twin-Fused handle technology using a rigid, injection molded high-impact polycarbonate frame with a soft, comfortable diamond patterned injection molded Kraton® grip for a firm, safe hold. This build, combined with the rounded handle cross section, deep finger choil with guard, pronounced butt pommel and blade thumb ramp with friction grooves, results in one of the most secure and comfortable grips in any folder, at any price.
